The Maha Kumbhabhishekam is the consecration festival of the Temple and its deities once every 12 years, per Agama Sastra. In Sanskrit, the word “Maha” means Grand, "Kumbha" means Kalasha, a scared pot, and "Abhishekam" means consecration or sprinkling of holy water. Together, Maha Kumbhabhishekam refers to the consecration of the temple, and sprinkling holy water on temple's Shikar (Gopuram) and its deities.
During the Maha Kumbhabhishekam, the divine energies are re-invoked through elaborate Pujas and Yagnas into the Kumbhas (or Kalashas) containing the holy water (from holy rivers or ritually purified). This holy water is then poured from the Kalashas over the Vigrahas (Deities) and the Temple Shikars (Gopurams) to re-energize the Temple and its surroundings.
Maha Kumbhabhishekam will be celebrated from Wed June 21st to Sunday June 25th, 2023.
This is 2nd Maha Kumbhabhishekam for our Temple after the 1st one in 2011. See 2011 Recap Video here. Maha Kumbhabhishekam 2023 is even more special for us, as it’s the 1st Kumbhabhishekam after the Shikar Sthapana in 2016.

In Vedic culture, doing Seva (selfless service) is an important part of spiritual sadana. It helps create love, harmony, and peace in our daily lives.
A festival of this magnitude needs lots of volunteer's support. Temple needs volunteers for various activities before, during and after the festival including masonry, carpentry, painting, general cleaning, rangoli, decorations, parking management etc. Please consider joining the Temple's Volunteer WhatsApp group here, where volunteer needs are posed from time to time. Together let's enjoy the spiritual festivities!
